Polo GT in a 1.1?

I?ve heard it?s possible to put an injection engine out of a Polo GT into a 1.1 golf c. I know the engine will fit, but what will be needed to make the engine run? Connections, ignition? Has anyone done this swap before, if so posts will be gratefully received!

I've got the SPI AAV engine and I'm swapping to the GT soon. It's only 6 wires and it's not hard at all. If you're close to Yorkshire, you can have a look. The worst bit is where to put the ECU as the loom isn't really long enough. I've put mine behind the scuttle bulkhead, but it's not right. When I go to the GT, I'm going to lengthen the loom and put the ECU on the passenger bulkhead near the fuse box.

My GT engine has fallen through, so I'm missing a step and putting the MK3 Golf 1.4 engine in and using a Megasquirt. The GT injection parts, Cam, manifolds etc bolt on and give more grunt than the standard GT engine. Easier and cheaper to find the base engine. I'm going with the Megasquirt as I've wanted to try one for a long time. I also fancy making my own inlet manifold.

sounds good. a polo 1.4 16v engine wud also be gud but thr a bit harder and more expensive to come by. let me know how you get along using megasquirt as im looking into using it on either a 2.0 16v on bike throttle bodies or a 1.8 t lump.

I've got a Manta as well with a few 16V XE's in the Garage, so this is a cheaper Megasquirt learning curve than starting with those. I can afford to blow up a few Polo engines.
