Off set's, tyres and suspension

Hi all im new here. I haven't got a Mk1 yet but hope to get one soon.

I want a base model standard one but with 7x13 ATS's and low (not too low!) suspension.

Anyone on here have such a set up, if so what tyres do you use and what suspension? Also what would be the best offset to use?

Any recomendations and information appreciated.

coilovers are the way to go. then get the best set you can for your budget.
