no spark and fp not priming

hey new here, i've got an 85 cabby with a 2.0l 16v from a 91 passat, using digi1.  fp is not priming, it will if I jump the relay, no spark from the coil. could both of these issues be from a bad ignition switch? when I put the motor in I was getting spark, and fp would prime, but busy with daily grind so the project had to take the back seat. now trying to get her going.
any suggestions?

did you fit the right fuel pump relay, it needs to be a 67, 80 or 167.

also if its digi 1 it needs an ecu relay, if you used a ce1 digi wiring loom as a base there should be a 2 pin plug 'R' to the fusebox, if so then you can fit a #53 relay to the ecu socket. if not then either wire ecu relay above fusebox or just put ecu power feeds to coil live

not yet, 2 kids, swing shift and house, hard to find time. I have an ecu relay wired in, temp. might need to get new fuse box, dizzy. the hall sender might be bad, lambda relay could be bad.  chacing a ghost right now.. will post up when I know something for sure,

do you know the color of the wires, connectors were cut to fuse box, only had engine side of loom was entact.

I assume its a us spec car right? if so see my sig jetta89.pdf and golf91.pdf, thats pre/post-90 spec wiring diagrams for the US spec mk2. i think the diagrams you need are the ones labled 'calif' if its digi 1?

trouble is digi 1 is quite rare so info isnt so common. moistly its like digi2 when it comes to wiring it in though.

which fuel pump relay are you actually using then? if its a k-jet one that'll work fine just so long as the rev counter wiring from the coil is spliced in properly
