Most modern 2.0 16v
Does anyone know the most modern version of the 2 litre 16v engine, running k-jet, sold by VAG?
I'm on the hunt for a donor car…
Thanks

AFAIK none of them ran K-Jet, not strictly. The 9A in the Corrado and Passat ran KE-Jet, while the ABF (Golf Mk3) ran Motoronic M9, or something like that (don't know model number of the system). Dunno about Audis or Seats….

if u use a abf engine u can run kr stuff on it... old kjet way... its a bit of a pain but u can do it.. u need metering head all the injectors and fuel pipes u need to change the dizzy, run a coil so u can run it that way if u dont have the wiring loom..

Interesting… Is it possible to retro-fit k-jet to any other modern 16v VW engines too?
What I'd like to create is a modern, low-mileage engine with a fuel system I understand and can tweak myself, without getting into ECUs and stuff like that.
Thanks

The bare bones of an engine isn't particularly complicated and there's nothing really on a modern engine, which would prevent it running an older induction system such as K-Jet or carbs. The problems come when you consider the details - for example, you'd need an inlet manifold that fits, holes for the injectors, a hole for a dizzy which could advance/retard as required, etc.
So, the ABF engine is more modern than the 9A but it has the same port configuration for the inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, and dizzy. So you can bolt on the older parts and make it all work out.
Not sure what you mean by "any modern VW 16V engine" - are you familiar with more modern ones than the ABF (eg Mk4 Golf, I think….???) I don't know the details of what the Mk4 was available with lower down the range, anyone looking to the Mk4 for an engine conversion would naturally be looking towards the top end, eg 20vT, VR6, R32 engines.
