Momo steering wheel boss wont fit?? Help???

Hi i have just bought a momo steering wheel and boss kit for my 1991 8v cabrio clipper ive taken the old steering wheel off but the momo one is too small to fit on it looks like there has been a piece put on to make the spline bigger for the standard wheel, does anyone know if you can take this piece off with a puller it looks like its splined on the inside like it should come off!! someone help i dont want to destroy the steering column! i would put a picture up but it wont let me!

Sometime around 1989 or so the steering column shaft was fitted with a larger spline, finer also, to allow a finer dajustment of the wheel while doing an alignment. It is sold as a replacement part, but removing it is very hit or miss it seems (pressed on maybe while hot it seems). I have never had luck doing this even while using an 8ton press. Others have said it comes right off? The simple way to fix your problem is to get the correct hub/adapter for the year car.

As I understand it VW have a special tool for removing the extra collar. Alternatively source the correct post 89 boss

ask for a MK3 Golf or Corrado one, no chance it will be wrong then. or if it is, its their fault and not yours ;)
