I fitted a Mark3 dash to my Mark1 Cabriolet.

The problems you will have are the dash will be about 3-4 inches too wide, so it will have to be trimmed at the passenger side. Also, if you want to keep all your heater vents working, you will have to mate the new dash vents to the original Mark1 heater outlets. You will also have to do abit of rewiring to get the clocks and switches to work.
So to sum up, yes it can be done, but definately not a Sunday afternoon job. :o

Are you one of these purists that think a Mark1 Golf should be left totally standard?

Why????

A mk3 dash wouldn't be to my taste, only cos I had a Vento before and thats scarred me! But I looks like you've done a tidy job of fitting it, which must've taken ages, so it OK in my book!

looks great!  8)  Modern dashes are so much better than the old ones.

also i think a mk3/4 polo dash is a lot easyer!
