mk2 golf coilovers on a mk1

HI ALL I HAVE A MK2 IN BITS WITH COILOVERS AND WANT TO PUT THEM ON MY NEW MK1 SOFTTOP 1.8 GOLF
I TRYED BRIEFLEY BUT THE HUB IS THINNER ON THE MK1 COMPARED TO THE MK2
(WHERE THE SUSPENTION BOLTS IN AT THE BOTTOM WITH 2 BOLTS)
ON THE MK1 ORIGANAL SUSPENTION THERE ARE PLATES WELDED ON THE STRUTE TO MAKE IT FIT TIGHT,
CAN I JUST PACK OUT THE COILOVERS WITH WASHERS TO STOP IT MOVEING LEFT AND RIGHT OR DO I HAVE TO CHANGE THE HUBS OVER,
WILL THEY FIT???

ALSO IS THIS THE SAME ON THE BACK?????

CHEERS ALL

I read the first couple of lines then my eyes hurt (due to capitals) but I think the answer to the question you're asking is, no Mk2 coilovers dont fit the mk1.

Basicly yeah i want to know how you fit mk2 suspention to a mk1

the only diff on the front is there are 2 plates welded where the 2bolts go thro at the bottom,2 make it thiner where it bolts at the bottom if you took the plates out the front suspention would fit the mk2 but i want it the other way round mabe some knows where to buy the plates??

havnt looked at the back yet.
sozz about the caps
