MK2 16v clocks

Would MK2 16v clocks work in a MK1?

The higher redline and top speed is of interest to me he he 8)

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Mine at standard goes off the clock! 8O Not that i would know because that is breaking the law :naughty:

The Mk2 16v clocks go up to 160MPH Might struggle getting up to that! :P

The clocks would fit with minimal work. A complete MK2 dash conversion may be of interest, as you could then have heaters aimed at the driver.

Hi Mr V do you know what is involved to get them to work?

I don't want to do a dash conversion as I want to keep it origianal 8)

Its supposed to be very easy, the speedo cable and wires are a straight fit but im not too sure about the surround, mate. Im going to the local meet on Sunday, i'll have a word with one of the boys

yea the clocks will go in but you also need the wiring plugs from 16v wiring loom they are different to mk1.You will need to fit the mk2 plugs to your loom.I got a diagram someone on clubgti made up tells you which wire does what.I havnt fitted to mine yet but have tryed the clocks in the fixings are slightly different but i dont see any problem

Thats what I thought would be involved :(  I'ld do it if it was a plug in job.

Sounds like too much hassle. Who cares how fast your going anyway at that speed.

I suppose if you're doing over 120(not that I do  :naughty: ) you should have your eyes on the road!
