mk1 s3 conversion

hello all im new on here, was thinking about doin a s3 conversion but dnt really know what would be needed. could any of you help? thank you all

s3 as in 4wd

if so then your going to have your work cut its not the easiest conversion to do in a mk1

thought so is there no way of changing 4wd to fwd?

You could use the same gearbox as other FWD VW/Seat cars with 1.8 20vT engines. I think there's a bit of fabricating gearbox mounts, and you'd need to convert to cable-change gearbox too. I am sure sooner or later, someone will be along to advise of specific gearbox codes which could be used and which donor cars they could come from.

Who cares? what about 4WD to RWD?  A rear drive Mk1 Golf would be awesome.  Anyone done it?

Yeah paul c is right, to convert from 4wd - 2wd all you would have to do is not use the s3 gearbox and just mount a standard box to the engine.

If my memory serves me right, yes a rear wheel drive mk1 has been done.
