Mk1 Lhasa Green Gti... Make it go faster!

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I am the proud owner of a 1983 Gti In Lhasa Green! But it has a 2.0L 16v K-jet system engine.
Car is lowered 60mm and sitting on Ronal LS Wheels..
Front and rear strut brace and Full stainless exhaust system.. but… Thats it! :|

The car is lovely and i am happy with how it looks, however i'd love to make it go quicker! It is currently at 155bhp rolling road and engine is completely standard.

I basically was just thinking of starting a bit of a mini debate on the quickest and Cheapest ways too increase power from this engine! (i know from what a lot of people have said to me it isn't exactly ideal for tuning.. but i cant help but think there must be a number of things i could do)

Carbs?
Cams?
etc etc. :dontknow:

Please leave feedback or let me know "what you would do".

Cheers

Nitrous.

The reason being, the alternatives are either obscured by myth, or expensive, for example:

carbs - don't increase power over a well set up K-Jet fuel injection
cams - the stock (KR or ABF) cams are in fact pretty darn good

and then….

porting and polishing - well, for optimal, you're looking at doing the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold, in addition to the head. And there's a lot of myth about where to take out the metal for best effect, so its the kinda thing best left to a specialist. And….a specialist costs a lot of money, when they do the 16V head, and both manifolds!

So for bhp per ?, nitrous is always going to be pretty attractive.

PS If you're looking for a quick way to get a little bit more performance, lighten it - interior out, and no bumpers. Gets a little bit more performance, costs ?0 and makes the car "feel" more like a race car.
