Mk1 GTI shell to Mk1 BAM
Ok so this conversion will be happening very soon! Within a week!
I'm buying a complete mk4 1.8t BAM, so will I need anything else that isn't on the car already to do this?
I've searched the forum and found this list
From donor car I will require:-
Intake manifold and throttle body
Exhaust manifold and turbo
Intake trunking (from turbo to airbox). Is this just a pipe?
Exhaust down pipe.
Lambda sensor & mounting boss
Alternator and bracket
Water pump.
Boost control valve
Ignition coils
Fuel rail with fuel pressure regulator and injectors
Bottom radiator hose? mk2 golf gti?
Metal and rubber heater hoses?
Intake air and coolant temp sensors
Charge air hoses. What are these?
Engine wiring harness
Crank sensor
Mk2 engine mounts? I've heard For my car I need a custom cambelt end mount and a poly uthane rear mount?
Additional Parts To Source
Air Filter? What do you recommend?
Intercooler. I spoke with a garage and they said the Mercedes Sprinter one fits quite nicely into a mk1 golf.
Additional charge pipes. Where can I get hold of these?
T piece for oil pressure sensor. What is this?
1600 carburettor throttle cable. Another guide suggests using mk2 golf 1.3 throttle cable?
Suitable radiator and fan. Will a mk2 golf 16v one do the job?
Top radiator hose. Mk2 golf or Samco hose?
Fuel hose and clips to join fuel rail to mk1 engine bay pipes? Will the ones already in my mk1 do?
Hose clips for coolant and charge pipes
Altinator belt from a non a/c mk4 golf.
16v cambelt tensioner and bolt (tensioner matches the width of the cambelt)
Washers required to space cambelt 8mm away from block
Non p/s - a/c fanbelt
EFI fuel filter custom bracket. Where can I obtain this?
Mk3 1.9tdi gear box
Any info greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Chris

the engine code is located on a flat flange on the osf of the cylinder head.
