mk1 golf polo 1.4 8v engine conversion

hi

i have been asking everyone about performance bits for 1.3 or how easy it is to swap a gti 8v engine into my mk1 driver

but i have come to the conclusion that it would be easier and cheaper for me to put a 1.4 8v 6n polo enigne into my mk1. 8v beeing the easiest one to find cheap   . i intend to put gsxr 600 bike carbs on it to cut out the faffing with elec injection .i know you need to fabricate a mounting for the 5 speed box which doesnt look to hard .iam also planning to cam it.

i was wondering if anyone has done this b4 ?

which driveshaft do you use?

which linkages do you use?

and what ignition gear shall i use ?

i have made up my mind i promise!  

i looked into doing a simlar conversion a while ago, i was planning on using a block from a 1.4 golf and the head and ancilleries from a polo gt , i think the engine code is abd, if your planning in running carbs i belive the dizzy from a mk2 golf 1.3 along with the coil, ignition module and loom.

the 1.4 block has lower compression but gives a bit more torque, i have heard its worth the extra effort, as for the gearbox i was planning on using the 4 speed 8O so it wouldnt of been an issue but you will need to frabricate an extra mount i belive

i'm sure someone else will be along soon to correct me and fill in some gaps, oh and dont worry abount not makin your mind up - i still havent!!
