mk1 golf... engine conversion.. + carbs
but i'l try here..
i have a 1.6 GLX AUTO MK1 golf convertible
it runs high but heres what im planning..
i have just bought a 1.8 16v corrado engine for it… hoping to put it on a set of twin dellorto 45's i got..
while im doing this i wanna clean up the engine bay.. running looms through chassis etc..
so my main question is what wires do i wanna leave on the loom?
or is it worth me getting a 16v loom to chop tht up?
i already have the ignition one for the coil and module,
but tbh im not sure what i need to get this engine running right, and minamilistic…
help?
many thanks..

It would be too complicated to answer this post and you may be better reading any conversion post using the search facility on the site .
Converting an AUTO is complex , don't forget you will need gear linkage , box, pedals etc etc
Good luck
i have a complete gti 8v and a LHD sportline tht i cn get parts from..
and before deciding to do this conversion i converted the car to manual..
was piece of p##s.
just with the 16v engine working k-jet…
im wondering what to do with the fuelling side for carbs.. and what i can get rid of in the loom…
many thanks.

my main question now is what to do with ignition and fuelling..
i have the 16v coil, module and other computer (not sure what this is)
theres three wires cut on a seperate loom leg….
thing they are for fuel pump?
so should i jus use this ignition and run a fuel regulator and facet pump?
also is the little block on the 16v engine with fuel lines goin to air filter some sort of pump?
any help appreciated..
