mk1 golf c, 20vt conversion. ecu and loom?

hi there every1. im having alot of problems finding out information on my prodject and hope this is a good place to find info. i have a 83 mk1 golf c and am hoping to complete a 20vt conversion. i have the engine from a vrs octavia, im using a 16v gearbox. 1 of the main problems i have is what ecu an loom to use? i dont have a big budjet and couldnt reali aford something like the qpeng plug and play system which ive seen is around £1200 for my car. the car was in a garage for awile and he was going 2 use megasquirt. i had 2 get car out of the garage due 2 loosing job but now can aford 2 spend alitle. seen the megasquirt for around 300 but hw much would it cost 2 have it fitted because have no clue about car wiring. and i want 2 do the rest of the conversion myself. if anyone has any ideas and info about this or anyother ecu's and loom's wud very much apriciate hearing it all.

Thanks very much, james

if everything was plummbed in so it was just fitting the loom and getting running then it would only be a days work ish well a long day but doable your talking £200 which is fuel costs to as im in kent

i did a mk1 last year for a guy he basically got the car with the engine and box on the mounts and i completed from there he paid for all the parts and i did it for £500 at my house took a few weeks due to work commiments ect but still cheap
