mk1 golf 256mm front brake upgrade .

Hi  All ,

I'm looking at doing this conv on my mk1 .

I can get my hands on a set of front calipers & carriers from a 84 Audi wr Quattro
will then work for this conv

any help greatly apprecieted .

 :D

Mk1 campaign , Mk2 16v engine & box fitted ,running twin 45's .

You need to measure the distance between the bolt holes on the carrier where they would bolt to the strut, iirc it needs to be 74mm

Why not fit Vectra calipers & carriers? works with 256 discs..

what year and model of vectra is that??

and do you have to use vectra discs or do these fit with standard mk2 16v 256mm discs???

The Vauxhall disks wont work you need VW ones,theres a brake tech section on the left that explains it all.

trouble with vaux is you need vaux pads and flexis plus sleeves or specvial bolts to fit em. if you can get the early audi/scirocco 16v carriers you can use all std vw parts. one of the how2 posts or tech sections has the part numbers for the correct carriers plus all the cars they were fitted to. iirc 84 audi should be the right ones
