mk1 caddy
hey i know its a bit off subject but ive bin building mk1 golf for ages!!! just found myslf a mk1 caddy and was wondering if anyone new were to get. rear lowering blocks and u-bolts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please help

i think the way its doen these days is to spin the rear axle upside down and cut and weld the u bolt plates try www.caddyforum.com some good info there mate :wink:

yeah ive done that but it needs to go lower!!! and im just afta the lowering blocks and longer u-bolts

get them from rally designs.
Its the same ones used on mk1 Escorts.

bty.. you dont actually flip the axel.. or the brakes will be upside down.
You just put it on top of the spring instead of the underneath.
You have to cut the sadles and shock mounts of and re weld them below

there was a thread on vortex about lowering caddys using a lowering plate on the rear hubs so a piece of sheet metal quite thick bolt that to the rear beam then bolt the hub higher up :? crazy yanks it would last about 3 bends in this country unless it was 3 inch thick plate

You say that.. but it is a valid option.
on the caddy forum.. al the forum admin offers lowering plates, or axel flips as lovering options.
with lowering plates tho, the track is widened at the rear due to the thickness of the plates.

ideal thought the axle was wider on the caddy than the mk1 escort
