mk1 cab speakers!?!?!

ive just got myself an absolute bargain of a deal on a b reg mk1 golf gti cab. just one problem i really wanna overcome and thats the speakers in the front door cards! their the old 5x7 (i think) i was told that the later cabs came with different from speaker mounts (5 1/4 inch rounds) can anyone help me out with advise on how to get hold of some of these door cards or on an after market set that will house speakers with some decent sounds! your help would be apprecited!

You can get plenty of replacement fit speakers without modifying the cards. I assume the cab is the same as the tin top, if so they are 6x4 inch. JBL or Infinity make speakers which fit exactly. I fitted JBL, available on Ebay for 18.99 plus P&p.

yep as above sony, jbl etc etc all the top makes do 4x6's, mines later style (well it is on a k) an with focal comps in an it sounds mint, if ya can get hold of the later cards do it or modify what you have to fit components cos they sound much louder/ clearer than 6x9's or 4x6's
