try upping the front tyre pressures to around 30 psi first

Nah, I'd go for 135 tyres, less rubber on the road equals less resistance.

TSR do a kit for ?1000.00…..Some one has adapted Corsa electric power steering [search site for info].

There was never a RHD option for power steering

Cheers……….

i got used to abs and power steering too, but after a week i was fine again, tell your wife to give it a go for a week i say, she may well be surprised (my little, and i mean seriously tiny girlfriend has no issues driving my car and she has little to no upper body strength, oh and i have a cabro)

Heavy MK1 steering owes a lot to worn top mounts and/or tracking out - make sure these are good before splashing a load of dosh on PS

someone actually fitted a corsa c steering column with pas into a mk1…

ensuring your tyres are fully inflated and all parts of your suspension and steering are up to scratch will do wonders for your steering and make the car feel like it had pas from the factory…

i have feeble little arms yet have no problem with the car steering…

has your wife actually driven a cabby? if not then theres no point thinking about getting pas before even seeing what they are like, imo the cars are light as owt and steering is a breeze, id hate to imagine how sketchy the car would feel with pas

this is half the reason i got a mk1 as no power steering means more feel and better control and if its set up propaly shouldnt be that hard

If you do a lot of town driving think your wife will want the p/steering.Further to earlier advice my steering was lighter with 7 inch rims and a branded tyre that the 5 1/2 and cheapo tyres it came with.

I'm a girly and I had a brand new astra with ps before I saw the light and got me cabbie. Yes I noticed a difference in the steering but I had no problems with it whatsoever. Your missus won't either. It just builds your arms up a bit which is no bad thing, work out while you drive!! can't be bad.

Better feel with none pas but sometimes u just feel lazy, i'll be pas my project to help with torque steer!  U dont want to pay silly money for it, its a mixture of mk2/3 parts and some custom brakets. There's a thread on clubgti with a good pic of the parts needed including the custom ones.
