mk1 ABF project
hi, im after putting the ABF engine in my mk1 i am going down the route of using a donnor car either a mk3 gti 16v or a ibiza cupra.
I was just wondering if the brakes will also be usable on my mk1, any other bit that can be used?
thanks for the help so far =)

the calipers n carriers will go on if it has 280mm using adaptor brackets from ebay/caddy forums. rear brakes will go on too. thats about it really running gear wise, except for the gearbox if you plan to convert to cable shift

the abf has a cable change gearbox, so if you were going to use that then you would need to convert it. if you use an 020 box then no need it'll fit right on the abf

I ran an abf in mine for a while on bike carbs. It is and was the most mental car i have ever drove
On topic - The original mk1 gti brakes are fail for this type of conversion- I would really suggest Uprating the Servo, Master Cylinder and Brake Disc's - Callipers Carriers Pads.
You will need 15" wheels to run the 280mm's and trust me you will need the 15" wheels

Slightly off topic in this section. abf - 150hp and carbs around 20-30hp more. To benefit the most, you want a uprated exhaust system. 020 box is fine ( I used a short ratio 020 from 1.6 GTi ) You will need the Bike Fuel pump, with in built regulator.
Perhaps a catch tank aswell. Rolling Roaded was tested at 178bhp - You dont need any more as its very uncontrollable to drive with all the wheelspin.

depends on the gearbox you end up with, if its got 90mm flanges then you need 90mm mk1 1.5-1.8 shafts, if 100mm then late mk1 cab/rocco 1.8 100mm shafts
