Mk1 20v turbo breather pipes and alt belt belt
A few mates have got together and are fitting a 20v turbo motor into a mk1 Golf as a track toy but have a couple of questions.
So far the engine and box are in, gear linkage and clutch sorted but we're getting a bit bogged down in what engine breather pipes we need to retain and which ones we can bin.
Attached to the front of the inlet manifold is a steel plate with lots of pipes (some fuel and some are air I think) and a single plug connector, can we bin all of this or is some still required?
A large fan with pipes going from the engine breathers and end up in the airbox, Needed or bin? We were going to run an alloy breather box and just plumb the upper and lower engine breathers into it.
We're also struggling with which pipes are needed for boost control, is there an electronic amal valve on these?
If someone has a diagram that would be great or simply tell us whats needed and what isnt.
Also, we're running with std 20v water pump and tensioner so we need a fan belt that runs just the alternator, anyone know the part number or length??
Thanks in advance

Most of the air gubbins can be binned and the holes blocked up, will store a couple of faults in the ecu but should not be detrimental to its running. Only 3 lines needed that go to the inlet are one to fuel pressure reg. one to N75 valve on inlet pipe (3way air connection) and one more which connects to the bottom of the inlet mani, can't remember where it comes from without looking. The steel plate with pipes is not needed, should all be air lines, something to do with emissions and egr recirc.
Have you checked the water pump to see if it has a metal impellor, standard are plastic and prone to breaking which often take the head gasket with them as well because they go undected till it's too late. ?20ish from GSF for a metal version.
