Mk1 1300 Carb to turbo or 2e conversion

hi all, I apologise if this has been discussed before!
I was interested in fitting a turbo to my 1300 carb, but been informed this will cause some problems.
Someone then advised to do a 2e conversion instead.
anybody know what this is and how to go about it?
any help will be appreciated!

for most conversions you will need to have a gti tank and fuel pump and running gear thats just as a starting point
