mk 1 gti with digifant engine

Can any one help me please,i recently brought a mk1 gti with a digifant engine in it,the previous owner was a mechanic and its kind of a half finished project, apparanately the engine has been rebored, high lift cams etc.Wot im struggling with is the harness, the engine management side of it i have plugged in to the fuse box,but the interior side of it,dashboard etc etc are different fittings(there plugged into another fusebox)wot i want to know is if i got a mk2 interior harness for the digifant system, would the speedo, heater, lights etc fit the mk1 dash  :)

Used to be a common thing years ago to fit a Mk2 dash in a Mk1 , and the engine conversion was also popular , using a MK2 wiring loom . Its not however a straight bolt in conversion [if you no where i am coming from] so your choice is keep the MK1 dash and adapt the digifant engine harness or fit a MK2 dash and convert the car to MK2 loom !

VW was not daft [to keep costs down] , both the MK1 and MK2 wiring is very similar and was only adapted when necessary . Although switches etc were altered wiring colours used were common to both cars . Either option is not easy , me i would adapt the MK1 wiring to suit the MK2 engine , study Haynes MK2 manual [green cover] and MK1 [brown cover] wiring diagrams  .

Label wiring and work out what you need , what doesn't work now and what needs to . The rest will be a breeze !

am doing a similar conversion to this. and i am using the mk 1 wiring. also the digifant injection from the mk2. II was wondering where do i plug the digifant wiring into? do i need to just wire up a new fuel pump relay or is there a slot on the mk1's fuse box? the mk1 am dong it on is a 1983 driver. formerly a 1.3
am hoping this will be fairly easy.

the digifant is easy to wire up best way to do it is run it as a standalone system and use the original mk1 loom aswell.

sounds to me like you have the interior on the orig mk1 fusebox, and so called mechanic has fitted mk2 fusebox and engine loom alongside.

if it has the old glass fusebox as paul_h says its easier to add seperate ecu and fuel pump relays above the fusebox, since the older fusebox has non of the required feeds out the back for digifant systems.

if its got the newer blade fusebox you can wire it up as per oem mk2 pre-90 digifant, and fit ecu and pump relays in the correct spot.  choice is yours!
