Measuring drive shaft lenght?

Hi all,

How would I go about measuring to establish what lenght driveshaft i need as i need a passenger side shaft fory mk1 vr6 conversion and trying to get a shaft somewhere?! :dontknow:

Long shaft: 658mm



Scirocco / Golf Cabrio with 100mm inner CVs

Short shaft: 433mm
Long shaft: 650mm

Short shaft: 432mm (confirmed twice)
Long shaft: 681 666mm

Are these with or without the CV's?

Might give the Golf 2 or Lupo shaft a try as they seem to be shorter…

Thats without joints,how short do you need to go? if you strip out the inner circlip on the shaft that allows a bit more movement i.e shorten the shaft

Mmm i havnt thought of removing the inner circlip! Ill try that tonight!

So I have removed the circlip mand still it looks a tad to short    …see pics!







I was thinking of grinding down the ridge in the second pic but not sure that will make to much of a difference?…
