mark1 dash ,,mark1 engine,

i have a mark 1 convertable wich i have been restoring over the years, i have fiinally finished to body and paint work, i have just bought a mark 2 gti, iam looking to swap the dash from the mark2 into the mark 1 , does any1 know if this is poss, i hav little knowledge on cars so any info would help alot,  also my mark one is an auto matic unfortunatly,, the mark 2 that i have just bought,is a gti and the engine is in good working condition, also would it be possible to convert my mark one using this engine and geer box,,,, any help on these matters would be much aprecaited,,

Why do you want to swap the dash?

the mark one dash is in bad condition, and bits are missing , ,, the mark 2 dash i have is in mint condition so makes sense to swap them,, i bought the mark 2 gti for spares for my mark1,, plus my mark1 is not a gti and the mark 2 is so in the future i will convert my mark1 to a gti,
