MAJOR BRAKE UPGRADE I HAVE DONE

hi everyone  just let you all no  i upgraded my brakes on my mk1 gti  from standard    ive fitted a new servo from a 16 valve mk2     and a corado g60   22mm master cylinder ive also done a rear disk convo repiped the whole car with new copper  fitted goodridge hoses rounded off with zimmerman cross drilled 280 mm disks with g60 brackets on the front and greenstuff fast road pads and zimmerman cross drilled disks and green suff pads on the rear convo   all i can say is the brakeing power is awsome very highly recomended mod   hope this helps you all out   gtipete

was it hard to do i'v got a caddy i'm about to drop a gti lump in was guna put the standard gti brakes, or do you reckon it would be safer with your conversion?

i will sort picks out asap  it was very easy to do the servo bolts on as normal  the cylinder too  the brakets for the g60  were great making the 280 mm disks fit  bit of fiddlin with pipes but not hard with   the rear disks aswell  makes most awsome braking

youve got a similar setup to me and i agree totaly ITS AWSOME STOPPING POWER!!!!!!!!

Did you have to use a bias valve for the rear discs and can you reccomend one if so. Cheers

i just used the standard bias valve not sure of make   its for the mk2 disk covo tho

hi mate,

did you use the rear bias valve from teh mk2 or stick with the mk1 bias valve…

ive got my 280mm brakes to put on and a rear disc conversion from the mk2 gti…

i was thinking that with the large brakes up front, it would mean the rear bias valve could be kept from the mk1 golf, as the rear discs would still do very little due to the huge size of the front anchors…

would like to know what rear bias valve you have definatly mate as i wanna get this done before inters :)

i put the mk2   bias valve on  cos i  already had it   my rear disks do hardly any work anyway  so standard would be fine   anyone going to bristol volks fest ???
