How long has the old suspension been on, can only think its natural compression with time. I've also noticed allot of the suspension decriptions say 35-40mm so that could also be a factor.

Did you also put in new top mounts etc the old ones will have allso been compressed a bit.

Well I'm now lost, I think if it was me I would find out the original ride height figure and then check what I have now. It will defiantly give you a starting point (I think they call it a datum point in scientific circles).

You should then be able to see if the new ones are not giving you the 40mm or the old ones were more like 60mm!!! :o

Someone on here must have the height info?

I seem to remember that measuring from the very centre of the wheel to the wheel arch lip, it should be 320mm as standard (on a GTI). Not 100% sure on this but thats what I recall :?

Just for reference my colf cab is 340mm on the front and 320mm on the rear, It has standard suspension and i would say the front top bushes have been changed. It does sit a little low on the rear IMO than it should.

A starting point and would backup shortsuffs quote.

I'm no mechanic so i had a garage lower mine for me, when i picked it up it was higher than before.

He the fobbed me off saying it wil drop and i didn't believe but said i would give it a go for a few days! Ok I was wrong!  It dropped a hell of a lot over the first few days!

i have also found that on the rear struts there was a silver thing that the suspension sits on on the botem of the spring when its on ..if you get wat im on about that was up sid down wich raised the car an extra 5cm wich wont help... lol
