Altho thinking about it i guess if you did cut the suspension turrets and extend them the coilovers would have to be wound so low and the running gear would be at less of an angle maybe?

Personally, I've found that the first thing to catch is the exhaust manifold-tube join (on a 4 branch manifold, which is not standard of course). Its a triangular flange under the car near the ARB and it sits a little lower than normal. I've scraped it a number of times, including quite a bit "bang" when I went over one of those metal features on the road where swinging gates close and secure to. Also, it caused grief at the MoT due to the jack not being able to slide front-back. It was only a couple of inches clear of the ground, and that was on the flat, with an 80mm drop. I know that with slightly smaller tyres (185/60R13 instead of 175/70R13) I could safely lower it to 90mm without rubbing.
Other people have found that the wishbone mount base area is the first thing; others that the driveshaft impacts the bodywork/chassis leg.
No doubt the car in the pic above had a whole load of modifications over & above the actual dropping of the ride height, so it could physically roll without scraping some or other components along the ground.
Remember that roads are not that smooth either, you need some kind of suspension.

The rear wishbone mounts on the bucket were raised by the hight of them. They also hacked both front and rear inner wings out.
unless you like driving at 20mph to avoid catseyes etc then coilovers are about as low as you'd want for british roads!
my driveshafts are machining themselves clearance and i have a semi circle taken out of both my rear inner wings from the beam hitting them!!!!! the floorpan is getting rather worn in places and i am getting mildly concerned that one day i'm going to hit a surprise pothole and end up with a brakeline ripped off.

I'm running 60 section tyres on the 13's i'm on at the mo which has improved things a lot, i.e i'm not ripping catseyes out with my exhaust clamps anymore. still bangs like hell as the drive shaft hits the chassis if i fail to miss a pothole/cave though.
Jon.
edit: Mine is a small block though, so i don't have to worry about smashing my sump in like the big block cars do!!!! My downpipe is in the way first lol!!!
