lowereing springs

my golf is currently on 80mm loweing springs and rubs like crazy. i have 15inch rims and realitivly low profile tyres. i was told that if i swapped the springs for a coilover kit this would stop the problem. anyone know if this is true :dontknow: Or do i need to change the wheels?

Its true - because you could wind up the coilovers so its not so low. You can also lower beyond 80mm with stock size wheels and tyres, its the combination of bigger wheels and lowering which makes it rub.
