Lower seat height?

I just picked up an 83 GTI with a sunroof…

When I sit straight, my head hits to roof, (I'm 5'9")

Is there an easy way to lower the seats?

different hardware?  different seats?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Scirocco seats are the same fitting, but lower.

Get to a mirror and make sure you don't have one of these haircuts



If you do, that's where your problem is, go find a barber because at 5'9" there should be no problem fitting your head in a Mk1.

This is the 3rd I have had, and never dealt with this issue before.

i'm 5' 11"/6' and have no problems whatsoever

I had exactly the same problem as you  

BUT at 5'9" it must be your hairstyle that needs modding.

I'm 6'4"
 
Get a MK2 Scirocco seat base and reskin it with your cloth. They have a tilt adjustment operated with a side lever. The only problem is the front/back movement lever is on the wrong side but can easily be changed.
