KR in my 1.5 GL

Hi all, doing a KR conversion to my 1984 1.5 GL. couple of questions…
will my drive shafts fit the gearbox from the KR?
my GL  was 4 speed so what would linkage would be best to use on the new box, as its 5 speed ?
Last but not least….do I need to change my rear engine mount because of the different box?

driveshafts are 90mm items, same length 4 & 5 speed tho so if you get a box with 90mm flanges it'll bolt right up. 100mm flange box requires 100mm late cabby/rocco shadfts, or swap over late 90mm 5 speed flanges onto it (4 speed ones are diffo)

as for mounts, they're all the same except for the top mount bracket on the box, need a 5 speed one, plus 5 speed gear linkages obv.

Top man! thank you very much, thats cool will measure them up tomorrow, got a feeling I have the right onese already. Also have the gearbox mounts (all sandblasted today I might add!). No linkage tho, any idea what linkages are best to use? ie golf gti? isaac

Happy days, measured and offered up my drive shafts today, as I thaught they are compatable!! just need the gearbox linkcage now, anybody know what models I can get the linkcage off? isaac

anything 1.5-1.8 MK1 Golf shape, cabby, caddy tintop etc. scirocco has a different gearstick but bay side its all the same

ok cool, thank you, so as I understand I just need the engine bay part of the linkage (ie the rods etc) I can keep the gear lever and the long arms, that go underneath the car? isaac

its mostly the same, however the plate at the base of the stick is a bit different. apparently you can mod the 1.4 4 speed one for 5 speed usage, so i guess you can also do it for big block 4->5 speed

AFAIK basically it boils down to modifying it till it will allow you to move the stick to where 5th is, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out once you're under the car.
