Knocking / scraping noise onmy 82 mk 1 gti please help
Does any one have any idea? Im unsure to what the problem is? Thanks in advance

o/s front wheel ish, it makes noise only when turning??

I reckon CV joint. My cabby made same sort of noises. Like you say...more apparent when turning.

i had very similar sounds, and thought it was cv so was waitin till it got worse, ended up bein w/bearing and an mot fail!!
easy to chk, just wiggle the wheel, there will be play if its a bearing

I think a wheel bearing would be a rumble rather than a scraping

sound like play in the wheel bearing and when you turn the disk is touching bare metal pads!!! get it checked quick!!!!

but it wasnt cos the w/bearin was rubbin on the hub, outer race had locked.
had rumbles b4, this had me and a few others convinced it was cv.
i wouldnt have put it in for an mot wi a dodgy bearing!!!
rebuild in progress....
