K04 upgrade question.

Post

Sorry if this is a noob question but, I am upgrading from k03 to k04 for my conversion, do I need to get an inlet manifold from a 225hp, or will the standard one from my agu engine be ok?

Thanks in advance,

Andy.

Andy,

You will need to change the manifold as well mate. Relentless v3 give good results but are a pain to fit especially if the engine is in the car. Have heard they are releasing a v4 soon too. Worth a look mate as they do give good gains.

Let me know if you need any more help with it as I have done the same thing on my AGU :)

Thanks for that Peter, much appreciated. You've just saved me £70 as I was just about to buy one off ebay

Smudger, I've been looking at the Relentless manifolds. There's V3 on ebay for £175 at the minute, it say's it has 'no tabs' not sure what that means tho O_o

if you really want to go for a rentless manifold get the v2 one. its making more power than the other versions. but its a hit and miss with them sitting flush on the head. plus the reliability of them. i have the v3 with the tabs which supposed to strengthen the manifold  but after 500 miles my tabs have broken. i dont know how long it will last but make sure you have the k04 turbo support bracket plus your exhaust system on a few rubber hooks  to keep pressure of the turbo. me i would just fit a standard manifold. im not happy with my one as after 500 miles it looks like it falling apart. to fit i did my with engine in car i wont do 1 again took me 3 days to tighten 1 nut  :ocf_emoticons__BangHead: :ocf_emoticons__BangHead:. best with engine out or head off. v4 out soon but as bill badger5 said there quailty control is not good

I was looking at that V2 last night. I'll do a bit more reading before I decide which way to go. I was thinking of fitting it with the engine out and probably re-fit the engine from underneath?

Cant wait to start fitting the engine, really looking forward to it, just need a few things to get started, like, gearbox mounts etc but first of all I need to get on with the welding on the body. I've had a slack couple of weeks due to our bands first come back gig, so been band practising a lot

look for the blue tag on turbo kkk. even when buying a second hand turbo best to get it checked or just get it rebuilt. or hybrid it and  be done    . i went for the hybrid due to people mapping the k04 to the brink. turbo wont last long with a hybrid a nice 22psi will give you good power and keep the turbo happy

Is this a good price Peter? it's just 5 mile from where I live, this guy is usually very expensive so not sure if this is overpriced?

I Belive the injectors wont fit the agu. Either Saab red 380cc or green bosch 440 are needed. manifold you can get for around 70 quid but U might aswell get a rentless manifold. Oil/water lines U looking 50-80 quid. With a second turbo especially a k04 its gunna be ragged to death, I woudnt put a second hand without it being rebuilt. Its a ok price I would ask how much for turbo and oil/water lines. Also standard manifolds crack so U need to ask if there is any crack on turbo or manifold. What are U looking for going to a k04 ? More power? . Track use or quater mile ? As a tuned ko3s is a very good setup or U can get your k03/ko3s hybrid basically a k04 in a k03 without changing manifold or Dow pipe. Also the k03/k03s manifold flow better than k04 manifold

My car is just for road use mate, I do want more power though. I didn't realise you could hybrid the K03, that might be a better option, I really need to do some homework on this before I start buying bit's I don't need lol.
