Ignition Block
Help needed,
I have a Mk1 VW Golf Clipper Cabrio on a 1992 plate.
The car needs a new ignition block and after taking off the steering wheel and the majority of the block (as the car was stolen and therefore cracked) I noticed that the bearing remained on the steering column. I thought I would try and remove the new bearing from the new block however it was rock solid and would not come out (I cracked the new block trying!!)
I have tried to take the bearing off the steering column however this has only bent after using a bearing pulley!!
Can you tell me what I need to do? Either take the bearing off or get an ignition block without a bearing inserted?
If the bearing should have remained connected to the steering column, and as I have bent it trying to remove, what are my options?
Please help I am getting conflicting advice?

Well, I have a great guy coming over tomorrow. After a phone call to the VW Specialists in Lincoln, One of them offered to pop over tomorrow evening and take a look for me. The guy is sure the way ahead is to use a twin bearing pulley and remove the block ahead of the spring.
Will update tomorrow.
Will update tomorrow.
