how to get the best out a 1.3

got a mk2 1.3 off my mate today as a run about and i was wondering how to get the best out of it performance wise.....without dropping a gti lump in it.... any suggestions?

Polo GT engine from a mk3 has 75 horse as standard, but I believe you can get similar performance from the earlier carb engines. Have a search on Clubpolo.

give it a service and a tune up! apart from that they are not a good base for modding and spending money trying to make it faster is the same as throwing money in the bin really. might as well get a gti lump.

get a webber carb for it, but for that price you might aswell gti it

Couple of simple mods, stainless manifold/ induction kit and a chip polo GTs can touch 100 bhp.

if you have ?100 you can buy some twin weber carbs off us  :wink:
