How much did your 16v conversion cost?
Im probably going to put a 16v in my mk1, still havnt got it running yet.
Could people whos odne them tell me how much yours cost around as i dont want to start it and run out of money.
Also if anyone has done it to a 1.3 i would appreciate you telling me how much it cost you and wether its alot more due to it not being a gti.
Thanks.

your going to need the following
4 branch manifold not cheap
engine and box
gearchange and linkages ect
brakes from a gti would be good
n/s mount bracket for chassis leg
all the k-jet injection system
fuel tank
think its quite involved
probally not expensive but loads of messing about getting random parts
your best bet would be to fit a polo gt lump in it

ive just been costing it up for my gti
?200 for the downpipe/ manifold ive got a full sciroco set up for mine
which is the biggest expense
but you will also need airbox metering head full gti spec fuel system custum gear box mounts and engine mount brake upgrade to at least gti spec

Does everyone use a 16V conversion manifold but then also use a reducer to adapt it to the existing exhaust system? Or another aftermarket 8V Mk1 GTI exhaust system?

seems the most common route ive found a sciroco 16v exhaust manifold so planning this route at the mo

If converting from a 1.3, I'd budget for a full system.

ive just bought a complete car mk3 2.0 16v, so apart from the exhaust system will i need any other bits its going into a 1.3.
also prob is mk3 is actually good nick, so its gonna be hard for me to break it.

what steering rack would i need.
And Could i choose from scirocco, 8v exaust system?
And tbh i do want it quiet and quite standard as i want to be quiet about it at the moment as i dont have alot of money to do this.
Thanks for the help.
What about engine mounts etc etc.
Sound lads.

sciroco 16v exhaust manifold which bolts to standered gti exhaust downpipe
gti steering rack as the gearbox linkages for the 5 speed box come of it
