How bad is ET1

Ive read alot of things about ET1 being so far off that its unsafe, but im wondering is anyone actually running with these wheels and what is it really like?
Reason i ask is im after a set and they come like this, what sort of affects will i get from daily/ hard driving with it being like it?

I can see them being unsafe, my mate has a set of compomotive motorsport wheels that are et0 so dont worry about et1 being unsafe, how wide are they, the main problem you will have is the wheels petruding out of the arch.

hi, did u actually mean can or can't see them being safe? just wondering if u missed the "t" off.

they are not small, they are 8" wide. i think its going to be very close with the GTI arches still left on. maybe too close.

Apparently , i havnt had experience with these wheels myself , they put alot of strain on the stub axles on the rear , even more so with lowerd hard suspension . There is alot more leverage on the bearing and stub with low offset and wider wheels  . Looks good tho

I would have thought bearing load wouldnt be a problem if the back spacing of the wheel is the same as original?  The levering on the bearing does make sense though :dontknow:

hmm this is going on both a car that is lowered to the maximum at the moment and with hard-ish coilovers.ill have to hunt around and see.

I don't see why they'd be unsafe?

but yes they will put slightly more starin on the wheel bearings, you may find yourself replacing them slightly more often.

8inch wide and et1? thats crazy wide on a mk1 though 8O

I'm pretty sure this is AxlFoleys mates (alter8 from clubgti??)

If you want to look at scary offset, have a look at some of the Mr2 ferrari replica kits, the have back wheel spacers of about 5 or 6 inches each side. They must be replacing wheel bearings every 200 miles.  8O
