Hottuning Cage ?

Hottuning Cage ?

Has anyone got one ? Got a couple of questions.

Is it possible to fit it with the rear seats ? If so do the rear parcel shelf supports need cutting ?

Is the diagonal section removable ?

Before anyone says it - I know its not going to do anything to help in the event of a crash - I want it just for looks !

no it wont… but it may do more harm… 8O  show cages are not a good idea tbh, they dont cost much less than a proper one, the increase in insurance is the same, and the fitting is the same.

also the side arms if they go back to the wheel arch  the rear seat back will more than likley require some cutting for clearance..

Don't forget to budget for a pack of paracetamol, cos you'll bang you're head about 2-3 times per week if its fitted. Or are you going to dress like "The Stig" at all times?

x2 - I've been lead to believe that having a cage without a helmet increases the likelihood that you'll suffer a head injury in the event of a crash?

This is an issue/topic that has been discussed very often in forums like this. Much of what has been said is true to at least some extent. One can do more harm then good if in a crash, If you get a bad fitting cage/rollbar you may bump your head from time to time and wearing a helmet just might be wise if you have one, but hey. . . My wife wanted me to install air bags in my old Golf 2. I told her it ain't that easy and she said then do at least something to protect yourself a little  :D , the green light was given. I bought an aluminum 4 point rollbar with cross bar from a good company. By the way, if it is made well the seats should be able to be kept and the cross bar should be removeable too. A full cage might be different as far as the rear seats goes. Anyway, it looked great, I padded the main bar even though I never knocked my head on it, and it brought lots of looks and questions. Yeah if I did have a good crash then my head might have put a nice dent in the bar, I have a hard head sometimes, but I didn't think much about that for the following;
"The ultimate goal of life is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, worn out and ragged with a big grin on your face shouting "Holy sh T what a ride!"
Not my quote, but if you want one live it up and get one.

Good quote !

So can anyone actually answer the question I asked in the first place ?

Just looking for some info on the hottuning cage - I'm fully aware of the dangers of show cages etc.

Hell I'm even fitting stretched tyres so I'm doomed to hell anyway !  :dontknow:

Hottuning_eu is a company and they have cages available for sale (I think???) and have contact details (search posts by user hottuning_eu, or look in the parts for sale section, they are a paid advertiser and I think there's a sticky there).

I'd suggest if you want serious pre-sales answers, to deal directly with the supplying company. They will be able to answer questions such as "is the diagonal removeable" or "can it be made to fit around rear seats".

By starting a thread on it, you are inviting opinions of joe public, so take things with a pinch of salt!!!!

er how are you lot fitting your cages? as to bang your head you will need to be sat on the back seat…. my cage sits behind the seats, so provided you have a good seat it should be ok in a crash and not collapse.  8)
