Help with Tyre Sizes

I've just bought a set of 7 and 8 x 14 inch Borbet T's, They arrived today but dont have tyres. Anybody know the best size tyres to fit. I'm just trying to get an idea before i go to order tyres tomorrow.

Thanks

Al

This web page http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html contains a tyre size to rim guide, very useful. The page is really long, the calculator is around the middle of it. Good read, though.

Just out of interest, does anyone run 7x13, 8x13 or 7x14, 8x14 on a slightly lowered mk1 gti without any trouble (even on full lock) or will mods to arches be needed, as i am thinking on buying a set of 8x13 ATS CLASSICS with 195/45/13?

Mine are 8x14 and the car is lowered about 100mm all we done was to roll back the arch lip and got an offset of 15 and I have no probs....

The width of the wheel doesn't normally cause a problem with steering lock, if you get the offset right.
The ATS Classics though tend to have a really low offset meaning they will stick out a lot, giving you arch clearence probs, and possibly some steering troubles too.
