Help? Outer c/v joints

Ok, I'm doin a vr6 into 83 mk1 small block chassis. I've got engine mounts +the all important 100mm shafts, I'm being told I need late cabby hubs to accommodate the outer c/v joints…….. Can I not fit outer c/v's that fit my hubs?

If its just the clearance then a quick run round the inner circumference of the hub with a dremmel will allow the cv to turn,it really isn't that much.

I'm told its clearance issue,guess ill find out thursday 

some cv fit fine anyway, depends on the make. its post-84 cab or rocco bearing carriers yo need, any model will do
