has anyone done this

fitting 16v front calipers to a mk 1 gti 1800.do the mk2 hubs fit??.also does the master cylinder fit from the 16v to cater for the rear discs....help..... :banghead:

Hi - you need a particular type of Audi carrier (slider) to fit the 16V calipers. Best bet is to use the calipers and sliders from said Audi. Detailed post about this in this section under post headed '16V servo and master cylinder swap' (or something like that). Geometry is wrong if you use Mk2 hubs I believe. You can use the 16V servo and master cylinder to boost the pressure but you need to bridge brake pipes using T pieces. Serch through past posts and you'll find loads of info

have fitted 16v calipers audi carriers  straight swap stops on sixpence and still has rear drums rear discs are really cosmetic

I ditched the old mk1 calipers for astra gsi needed the carrier holes sleeving easy to do and the brakes are mint. i reconmend changing the master cylinder and servo for 16v mk2 aswell. custom hoses from goodridge is a must for the swap.
