GTI sound

I have a 90 cabriolet , its not a GTI , its a digifant 98 horse power , I always loved the sound of the GTI. Is there a manifold , or exhaust , catalyc converter  i can change to get that sound. Where I live we have no european MK1's  at all
if anyone can help I would appreciate it

it will have an air box drill the hell out of it get a k&n air filter and job done it will sound like its suck starting a harley davidson    

The GTI has a bigger bore exhaust than the other Golfs - so you could fit one of these. Its not that loud or sporty, in sound, though.

Your car is effectively a Gti, though the engines produce less power for the US market due to emmision controls as your laws are much harsher!

You can get an induction kit for the Digi units - a K&N "K57i" should do it - Not the cheapest though! You could couple that with a nice sports exhaust  (or Muffler as you call it - LOL that term makes me laugh!) - Will sound nice and meaty then!

I've fitted a supersprint mid-section, and bolted on a piece of exhaust tube in place of the rear silencer - IMO it sounds awesome!
