Grill clips missing, dont know what they look like!!

Hi guys,

Im replacing my grill from a 1 piece to a 3 peice and now realise theres no way of attaching the side parts, im guessing I need some clips to go in the holes top and bottom on the car (see pic!) then the grill can be screwed onto the car.  Im also shy two of the top clips that hold the main section in place.  Anybody know where I can get the parts from/part numbers etc, want to get my grill fitted now 8)

Side pieces -

The side pieces on the std 3-piece grill don't clip to the front panel, they are held on by several screws straight to the front panel.

Your picture looks like it is of the 1 piece grill, the aftermarket ones do clip in at the sides however infamously have never fit very well and often the clips break.

Centre Piece -

These: http://www.ebay.co.uk/…m3cba91c1b7#ht_616wt_1139

Are the clips you want to hold the centre section in.

Having said that, I have never messed around with your genuine late style 4 light grill so I may have got the wrong end of the stick…are they single or 3 piece?

Thanks for the help bud, the grill in the pic that is on the post above is the one piece jobbie.  The new grill is a three piece.  The middle fits fine but the side's are the problem.

I cant screw um straight to the front panel as those holes in the grill line up with the holes in the panel.  I could go away from the three piece to a single headlight one piece but im sure it would be poor quality like you say.  Im sure theres some clips to do the job but I cant find them!

On my Mk1 GTI (and so I suspect all tintops), the end pieces screw straight to the front panel in the top and bottom corners.  On the Cabbie I believe there was small plastic inserts in those square slots, which were then screwed into.

I haven't taken my end pieces off for a while.

I did however run the 3 piece grill on my old cabbie for a while:

Then I moved over to the single light grill and handpainted red edge: ;)

That's not the least of it, i've got a single headlamp centre piece and a square headlamp early US westmoreland front sitting in the loft, lol.

And as i'm in an usually helpful mood…I cracked open ETKA for the first time in ages.  The part you want from VW is

Part Number: 1H0 853 120 - Expanding Nut

Right then folks, I have an update :D

I got the clips in the last link from rooster, and I purchased the clips that go along the top to hold the center grill in place.  The  ebay clips go in the small holes an line up with nothing   .  So I modded the other stlye and all done   Couldnt use the bottom holes but the center grill holds it all square.
