golf c 1.1 conversion to 1.8 gti HELP NEEDED?

 hello people, i've just taken on a un~finished project 1983 golf c 1.1 conversion to a 1.8 gti ? the engine,gearbox,wiring loom,fuel tank,filler neck,drive shifts,dash,front brakes etc are in place and are from
a donor gti. most off the wiring seems to be connected some where? :dontknow: can any one help?  :roll: what is needed for this conversion? where or who can i go too from here? also the four button gti steering doesn't seem to fit (are the splines different?) :roll:
i'm based near portsmouth(hampshire) if any one can take a look?

thank you Paul,most helpful! judging by the step by step guides i would say my cars 70~80% there? maybe this is time to call in the pro's to complete it as my current knowledge is some what limited? :roll:
any recommendations in the Portsmouth(Hampshire area?) :dontknow:
