Golf 1.3 Driver 1983 MK1 swap engine to 1.8

Im just in the process of buying a Golf MK 1.3 Driver, and i just can't bear the lack of power, so I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how easy it would be to swap to a 1.8 GTI engine, or suggest as similar priced alternative. Obviously I would have to change a few other components such as the gearbox with it being only a 4 speed.

I would honestly just say to buy a gti in the first pace if you havnt already bought the 1.3.
From my know which I could he wrong. Small block mk1s need the driver side engine mount nodding to fit bigger block engine. And you'll need to change fuel delivery system. You need a pick up from a gti and the wiring will be different as gti is injection.

Well the thing is i like the 1.3 the bodywork it immaculate, so to me it seemed a good start! But it doesn't necessarily have to be the GTI, just a 1.6 or 1.8.
