Gearbox number

I'm trying to find out about my new mk1 golf cabby.  I've recently found out that the engine is 1.6 td from a mk2.  I'm now struggling with the gearbox, iv found a number; 020 301 211 and googled it which came up with mk3 gearbox cover.  Does this mean i have a mk3 gearbox or am i looking in completely the wrong place?!!   :?

IF YOU LOOK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GEARBOX…ON THE BELLHOUSING WHERE IT MEETS THE ENGINE YOU WILL SEE A MACHINED FLAT SURFACE ABOUT 20 X 50mm…STAMPED HERE YOU WILL FIND A COUPLE OF NUMBERS AND MAYBE 1 OR 2 LETTERS…..THEN GOOGLE GOLF GEARBOX IDENTIFICATION OR USE VAGCAT AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT BOX YOU HAVE,,GEAR RATIOS FINAL DRIVE ETC…..HOPE THIS HELPS…THE NUMBER YOU FOUND IS A VW PART NUMBER
