G60 Owners: Radiator/Intercooler Help
I've been descently happy with my current radiator/intercooler set up, up untill i took a 7 hour trip. I pulled over once and had to do some stuff in the bay, and burned my hand on the intercooler piping. it was that hot and inefficient. Having said that, ive been doing a lot of research on what i can do with minimal amount of work and what i think i want is the following, but i need your input.
I believe what would be the most ideal set up for me for a front mount intercooler is the Mercedes sprinter core, which seems to be popularily used. This will allow me to continue shaving my bay. I want to have a minimal piping possible. Secondly, The radiator of my choise is this:
PN: 171121253BD
However, I have several questions that i need help with.
1. In USA, we do not get this radiator, so i am not familiar with it, and will have to have it ordered across the sea. Will it be sufficient to cool the motor?
2. Does the radiator have an internal overflow.
3. Are the fan switch sensor the same size for all these radiators? I want to know if i can re-use mine.
4. At this moment, i do not wish to buy a rallye outlet for the 180* bend. Is there an alternative option. I think this is what will give me some problems. I looked around and have not found any silicone hoses that are past 90* and are reducing to the sizes i need. I am capable of getting my intercooler piping done, but am still not sure of the clearances issues that i may have, as the oil filter seems like it may get in the way.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
My current caddy as is.
For those curious about how serious I am about my work, this is my Jetta Project. This is the detail that i will get my caddy to once i figure out my radiator/intercooler set up.
