G-charger on GTI engine
Don't know if it is a stupid question, but is it possible to mount a G-charger on a regular GTI engine.

No as G60 had different head and different pistons (to lower / raise compression ratio - can't remember which)
Block is the same i believe.

My mate ran a G60 with a standard gearbox from an 8v it didn't pull like it was meant to as the gear ratio didn't work as well as the boxes on the standrd G60's

You can fit Superchargers to anything you want if you can be bothered. G60rge fitted one to his 16V mk1…
Whole load of work though.

it can definately be done - youre better off with the eaton m45 charger from a cooper s much cheaper and more reliable.
youd need to lower the compression - stacked head gaskets is the easiest
an aftermarket ecu like megasquirt including the sensors that megasquirt needs
intercooler and piping
to be able to mount the charger on some sort of bracket
im researching into putting an m62 charger on my 16v at the moment and ive worked out a budget of ?1.5k to do it thats with me doing all the work myself so weigh up how much youd want one. id estimate youd get around 160bhp out of an 8v with an m45 and a small pulley. if you go on the eaton site theres a tool on there where you can work out how much boost and extra bhp you can get out of your engine

you also need to convert to efi instead of k-jet as the megasquirt or any other ecu will NOT control the injectors
