From steelies to P Slots

Hi,

I am going to change from my original 13'' Golf C wheels to P Slots and wondered if I need different bolts?

Plus, the P Slots have 195/60 R14 tyres. Obviously the rolling radius is a little too big. I was thinking 185/60 R14's instead. Any other ideas???

Thanks in advance

Yes, you need different bolts - longer.

The 195/60/14's (never actually seen that size before???) would not have that much of a difference to 185/60/14's as far as rolling radius is concerned, though I would say they are too wide for the wheel…

By the way, I run 185/50/14's on my 14 inch rims. they look much nicer, though the rolling radius is reduced quite drastically. Acceleration is better, though top end suffers. Car needs to be quite low to pull it off too as it increases the gap between the tyre and the arch.

My car is actually around 80 - 90mm lower than standard, but it doesn't look that much, 'cos the tyres aren't tucked up in the arches. If I put a set of Teardrops/P-Slots on with 185/60/14 tyres, it looks well decked!

Cheers mate.

I've worked out I need to get 185/55 14 to keep the rolling radius spot on. So I'm on the lookout! I'm going for a 60mm drop, so hopefully it will look ok. I'd like 80mm but too many speed bumps and a large duckbill on the front maybe a bad combination!!!

Re the bolts where's the best place to get them?

TBH, I'd try a breakers yard.
Any bolts from a Mk 1 or 2 (or even 3 I think) that has alloys on it will be OK. they are just a bit longer - your steelies bolts will fit and catch, but only by about 3 threads.
