I've got a kit to fit to my T4 as well this week and that won't be straight forward either I bet…
I want to remove the door pins from my golf and replace them with blue led's that'll flash when the alarm is armed. I'm hoping I can do away with the original bent rods.. If it goes well I'll let you know…

Not too much trouble. I bought a standard c locking solenoid kit from eBay.
Pics on my thread.
Good luck!

C/locking
As luck would have it, I got talking to a mate at work who used to be an auto electrician and he just laughed and said he could do it with his eyes closed! He's comin over this weekend with a deck chair and a stick to twat me with every time I do something stupid! In the mean time I'm gonna make a start on the T4 and see how I get on…
Thanks again…

c/l
Long story short - if they don't sort me out a new module then I won't be fitting the other kit to my golf - watch this space.
Not confident I'll get my money back either.
buy cheap… buy twice eh?

I started fitting a kit to my T4 today and the alarm is working ok but the central locking module isn't operating the solenoids for the doors (power is there and the pulses are coming out of the alarm box into the c/l module ok…) . Rang the company (top-seller on ebay..) and he was suggesting that I didn't know what I was doing and I've probably 'fried the units' by wiring them up wrong. I told him that it was exactly as the diagram but he wasn't helpful at all. Got an unusable van 'coz the dash is out and there's wires everywhere and this guy is refusing to send a replacement c/locking module!

I know how you feel mate, in my documents it does not list HOW to wire up the relay for the signal lights and also when you wire it up as spec'd with regards to the door-solenoids I found that pressing the open trigger(locked the door) and vice-versa..
However this could have been because when I installed the motor to the door I thought it was in the closed position when infact it would have now been in the open position.. so what I did as it's only a motor and not too intelligent was to switch the wires are where blue meets blue and green for green I went blue-2-green and green-2-blue.. tried the door again and it all worked
I now know that when the door solenoid arm is in it's closed position when it's lowest and in it's extended position it's classed as open .. Even then I could be wrong as I did this last week but like I said a quick shwizz of the wires and jobs-a-gooden
Not a clue how you've managed to FRY some solenoids though, it's not like you hooked them directly to your car battery is it.. I'd say their all faulty and if it was me I'd replace the lot if it's the box that's gone and you did as the instructions say, then next time you get a box and install I'd add in a fuse or an extra one as somethings up there innit..
Also some solenoid unit can't push and pull too much weight, could it be actually working but does not have enough power to shift the door-mech.. my drivers door-lock-mech is a bit stiff and I can see myself having issues with that soon.. I think the solenoids are rated at about 1-1.2Kg of force and you can get solenoids with a push/pull force of around 5Kg. I know this sounds like doing things twice, but un-plug the lever which connects the solenoid to one of your locks, have the door open and then give the button a press.. if there is still no movement in the solenoid then I'm sorry you could be right, their fry'd but if it does move then you might not have enough force in the solenoid.
I tested all mine on the kitchen table, just wired the alarm up, locks and stuff, kept pressing buttons and tested the shock sensor by way of tapping on the table so I knew everything worked before I installed, that way again I can blame the car, lmao!! Everything comes back to that car of mine, I do one bit of wiring and it's like tracing a fault in the BT telecoms main switch boards…
Hope something helps you out, or gives you ideas mate
Electronics eh.. pfftt!!
Kind regards,
Didge

c/locking
I did as he said and he was spot on, there is a pulse from the alarm to the c/locking when you arm and disarm, but no pulse coming from the c/locking module to the solenoids, which leads me to suspect a faulty c/locking module. Got in touch with the ebayer concerned and amongst other things he said… 'you probably fried the unit' , 'you're not very good at auto electrics are you?' , 'you need a multi meter to test all the components' ….. and so on..
He has stopped answering my messages so I've opened a dispute with E-bay… good times eh?
If I get a refund i'm gonna buy a decent kit and pay my mate to fit it :redfaced:
