Fair price Passat GT?
I've been looking for a suitable 9A engine donor for a while now and have been offered a H reg Passat GT 2.0l 16v for ?500 with 137K on the clock. They don't come up for sale very often and this one has been regularly serviced. I'm looking for a complete car so 1) i can see the engine running and 2) i can help myself to any other bits I need.
What do you think should I wait for something cheaper? Does anyone know of any yards with 9A salvage?

dont know if that helps or not….I've heard they getting difficult to find easily, i'm sure there are tons around its just he obvious ones have been spotted, lol.
other option is find a Audi 6A and convert it, find a knackered KR for peanuts and swap teh bits across…

Something without MOT or TAX would be perfect so long as the engine was sound, even an insurance write off.
I believe with the 9A shortblock the engine mounts stay where they are, I fancy that! I'm not sure about the Audi 6A or KR, if it involves moving mounts then i'd rather not.
Does anyone know what year and model of SEAT had the 2.0 16v 9A lump???? That way I can broaden my search to the Passat, Corrado and Seat.

You will need to use the mk1 (1.6/1.8) Mounts whichever block you decide to go for, whether KR, 9A or 6A. The mk1 mounts will bolt onto all 3 16v blocks with no modification.

Great lil document and it backs up what mk1vdub says, the Seats only came with the ABF 8)
The search continues, i'm in no hurry so will wait for the right donor and in the mean time get on with cleaning the engine bay.
There's a Passat GT out there with my name on it, I hope it doesn't run me over first
